About Bachata
Bachata started in the rural Dominican Republic in the 1960s and went global once sensual bachata took over Latin clubs in the 2000s. The basic step is gentle and accessible, but the dance rewards musicality — soft body movement, hip motion, and a close partner connection. It is one of the easiest styles to start and one of the most expressive to develop.
